An excellent example of the eighties female assertiveness in adult films. This trend did
not result from outside pressure, but rather is a natural reflection of society at large and an
extension of the adult industry helping create concepts instead of capitalizing on them. (One
exception is the endless stream of shot on videos that rip off popular mainstream entities).
TRINITY BROWN showcases Colleen Brennan as the title character, a female police
detective with a no-nonsense, but distinctly sexual way of solving cases. She is partnered
with Zack Fredericks (John Leslie) in more ways than one. The very stylized opening chase
spread legged collar capture is the kind of thing that separates McCallum from routine
filmmakers.
The film turns into a first rate detective story with a plot that few viewers will solve. The
bonus for porn fans is that some very erotic sex scenes dot the mystery trail. Tamara Longley
plays Angela, sleeping with gangster Frankie Carbone (Joey Silvera) just before husband
Tony is shot in their pool. Joey is the prime suspect as Leslie boffs actress Cindy West
(Kimberly Carson despite the hair), mother of his alleged child, and widow Tamara bumbling
the investigation. Colleen pumps Jamie Gillis and Joey for more than investigative information
gathering.
The true shock moment of the year occurs when John Leslie is put in the hospital and
Colleen must solve the case solo. Colleen started her career in sexploitation films of the
soft core variety (her fans are aware of the name she used then), but when she returned
in the eighties, she emerged as one of the truly volcanic sex explosions in an era of ice
goddesses. Her nipples are always erect. Tamara adds a smoldering sexuality featuring a
dusky voice that can cut fog. Joey Silvera coined the term ‘woodsman’ to refer to the unique
performance ability of the male porn star. A detailed clarification will occur in the future.
Some critics waffled, but this McCallum film has more than solid story and erotic sex worth investigating.
