The historical significance of this Mitchell Brothers epic can’t be underestimated. Even
today, this ranks as one of the 2 or 3 all time top selling video cassettes. GREEN DOOR
brought to the screen the underground erotic classic whose vague and various origins have
been the subject of considerable debate among erotic historians. However, the single signifi
cant thing this all time smash hit will be remembered for is the introduction of the incredible
Marilyn Chambers to the adult screen. The former Ivory Snow model proved beyond the
shadow of a doubt that there was a place in explicit films for the wholesome, clean-cut all
American girl. The film opens with 2 truckers at a road stop cafe discussing sex. George
McDonald relates the most incredible sexual experience he ever had to fellow trucker Yank
Levine. The story involves a far out sex club and the bizarre goings on he encounters. The
.entertainment portion of the program features Gloria (Marilyn Chambers), victim of an odd
ball kidnapping and prepared by patrons of the club to be the surprise of the evening.
Reassured by a cult of women that no harm will come to her and that she will not be hurt,
she becomes the star of the show to experience the ultimate feelings of pleasure. An all
time orgy ensues when the customers join the action.
Marilyn is certainly a supremely gifted sexual performer and displays complete versatility
by having every orafice filled during the film’s climax. The ritualistic trapeze scene featuring
black superstar Johnnie Keyes should not be missed. Although many of the people in the
film are far from aesthetically beautiful, enthusiasm in high evidence makes up for the lack
of physical beauty. Trivia notes: The musical score is one of the softest and smoothest you
will ever find, reminiscent of Hollywood’s Alex North. The Mitchell Brothers have cameo
roles as Marilyn’s kidnappers and former all pro defensive end from the Oakland Raiders,
Ben Davidson, plays the bouncer at the club. Historically, this film is a collector’s must and
for devotees of kinky sex action, the film still holds up even though production values have
become somewhat dated.
